Lessons: School Age

Swim Safe 1


For beginners being introduced to submersions, unassisted front and back floats and glides. Parent participation is optional for younger beginners.

Swim Safe 2


Confidence performing front and back swims will determine advancement to Level 3. Children will be comfortable performing deep water activities.

Swim Safe 3


Front crawl is the focus of this level. Diving, change of direction and treading water are also introduced.

Swim Safe 4


Swimmers in this level are working on introducing beginning transitions for back crawl and continuing to develop their transitions with their front crawl and sideglides, with increased focus on their technique (eg. no paddling on sideglide, breathing on both sides).

Swim Strokes 5


Back crawl is introduced, along with sculling and whip kick on the back. Stride dives are taught and endurance is increased to 50 metres.

Swim Strokes 6 & 7


Swimmers in Swim Skills 6 are learning Elementary Back Stroke and continuing to improve their whip kick (removing any scissor patterns). Additionally, the distance swim is lengthened and works to improve fitness and endurance.

Swim Strokes 8, 9 & 10


Swimmers in this class are working on their technique and learning the last few skills in the swim program. In addition to technique, this class also works to improve endurance.

Swim Strong 11 & 12


Swim Strong 11
For swimmers who have completed Swim Skills 10 or equivalent, and seek to perfect technique such as whip kick and eggbeater, and continue refining front crawl, back crawl, and breaststroke. Dolphin Kick and butterfly introduced.
Swim Strong 12
For swimmers who have completed Swim Skills 11 or equivalent, and seek to improve speed for timed swims, or work on endurance challenges. Drills and speed challenges introduced.
