Walking Groups

Walking groups are a great way to stay motivated with the help of group encouragement and accountability. Choose from a variety of levels and terrain including Indoor Concourse Walking in the Q Centre Arena and the variert of pace groups in the JDF Trail Walkers group.

JDF Trail Walkers

JDF Trail Walkers is a volunteer-run walking club offering year-round walks every Tuesday and Thursday morning. With three walking levels, there’s an option for beginners through to experienced walkers and hikers.

Walking Levels & Schedules


Level 1 – Leisure Walkers

Leader: Karen Slater
Time: 9:30 AM
Meet: JDF Administration Entrance
(Outside or just inside – left of the Main Entrance)

Perfect for anyone starting a walking program or looking for a relaxed pace.

  • Easy, social walks
  • Approximately 60 minutes
  • Scenic routes around Royal Roads, Galloping Goose, and JDF trails

Level 2 – Moderate Walkers

Leaders: Amy Emmett & Janet Ritchie
Time: 9:15 AM
Meet: JDF Administration Entrance

  • Walks on Galloping Goose and Royal Roads trails
  • Group starts together, then choose your distance:
    • Short route: ~5 km (60 minutes)
    • Long route: up to 7 km (75 minutes)

Level 3 – Advanced Walkers / Hikers

Facilitator: Diane Butler

For those comfortable walking 7–10 km (90–120 minutes) and enjoying moderate hiking.
